Football Recap: Denver Mount Late Comeback Versus Eagles, Ravens Endure Record Home-field Defeat

Denver Broncos 21–17 Philadelphia Eagles

Bo Nix connected with an 11-yard touchdown pass and the running back contributed a two-yard rushing score in the fourth quarter as the Denver Broncos erased a two-touchdown disadvantage to hand the Philadelphia Eagles their first loss of the campaign. The Broncos batted down the Eagles quarterback's last-gasp pass on the game's concluding play to hand the Super Bowl champions to just their second loss in their last 22 games. Denver (3-2) got fortunate in their rally when the Philadelphia had a crucial play nullified on an illegal shift penalty whistled against running back Saquon Barkley.

Texans Dominate Depleted Ravens in Record Win

Houston's quarterback threw for 244 yards and four scoring throws, and the Texans (two wins and three losses) strolled to a 44-10 win over an injury-ravaged Ravens squad, equaling both the most lopsided road win in Texans' history and the worst home defeat in Ravens' history. The Ravens (1-4) were missing star signal-caller Jackson, and that was not their sole issue. Defensive standouts Kyle Hamilton, Roquan Smith and Marlon Humphrey all were absent, and the Ravens already were depleted on defense because of a neck problem that ended the defensive lineman's campaign. The Ravens were also without All-Pro fullback Patrick Ricard and offensive lineman Stanley.

Colts Rout Raiders in One-Sided Affair

Indianapolis' running back ran for three rushing scores and a two-pointer, and Daniel Jones passed for two scoring throws as the Colts overwhelmed the Raiders. The 34-point margin was Indianapolis' biggest since the 2013 season. The quarterback finished 20 of 29 for 212 yards and improved to 4-1 as a starter this year, exceeding his combined victory total over the past two seasons with the New York Giants. Taylor rushed 17 attempts for 66 rushing yards and grabbed three passes for 20 yards. The Colts converted multiple takeaways into TDs. The Raiders dropped to four wins and one loss.

Cowboys Soar Past Jets in High-Scoring Game

Dallas' quarterback threw four scoring throws, leading the Cowboys to an easy victory over the Jets. Dallas scored on two long marches in the second quarter, despite missing key linemen on the blocking unit. Javonte Williams gained 135 rushing yards and a touchdown and also hauled in a TD pass. The Cowboys, now 2-2-1, bounced back from a 40-40 tie against the Packers last week. New York remain winless at 0-5 in their new coach's inaugural year as head coach.

Vikings Edge Browns in London Thriller

Vikings receiver Addison caught a short scoring reception from Carson Wentz with under half a minute remaining to secure the Vikings victory over the Browns at London's Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. This methodical march gave the Vikings (3-2) a crucial victory on their historic international road trip, which started with a narrow defeat to the Steelers in Ireland last Sunday. It also spoiled the rookie's first NFL start, as the Browns rookie positioned his squad (1-4) in contention by passing for two touchdown passes. Fellow rookie Judkins rushed for 110 yards on 23 carries. Wentz shook off a shoulder injury that temporarily sent him to the locker room and led two touchdown marches in the second half.

Miami Dolphins 24-27 Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young threw for two touchdowns and the running back ran for 206 yards and a score as the Carolina Panthers came back against the Dolphins in their home stadium. The quarterback's quick throw to rookie tight end Mitchell Evans with 1:59 to go gave the Panthers (2-3) the decisive advantage as they matched the largest comeback to secure victory in franchise history by erasing a large deficit. The QB had a horrific first quarter, but he ended up 19 completions on 30 attempts for 198 passing yards with an interception. Dowdle, filling in for injured Chuba Hubbard, did his work on the ground on 23 carries, falling just short shy of the single-game franchise rushing record. Miami's Tua Tagovailoa completed 27 passes out of 36 for 256 passing yards with three touchdowns and Jaylen Waddle accumulated 110 yards through the air on six receptions and added a score, but the Miami (one win and four losses) fell to 0-3 in away contests.

New York Giants 14–26 New Orleans Saints

Spencer Rattler passed for a long touchdown to Rashid Shaheed, defensive back Howden returned a fumble the length of the field for a touchdown, and New Orleans defeated the error-prone Giants for the Saints' first victory under first-year head coach Moore. Rattler secured his first victory in 11 professional starts, throwing for 225 passing yards without any mistakes. New York's first-year signal-caller Jaxson Dart, who secured his debut last week, passed for 202 passing yards and two scores, but also turned the ball over three times. New York gave up possession on five separate plays in all, with none worse than when the defender stripped ball carrier Skattebo, resulting in Howden's touchdown. Each squad are 1-4.
