Rangers dismiss head coach Martin after 17 fixtures.
After just 17 games in charge, Russell Martin has been dismissed as Rangers manager, with the club stating "while all transition periods require some time, performances fell short of targets".
His last match in charge concluded with Sunday's 1-1 tie away to Falkirk, after which he required a police escort away from the grounds when supporters attempted to halt the team coach from exiting.
Increasing scrutiny had been directed at Martin and resistance from the club's followers during a disappointing opening period to the term.
The club waited until the end of September to record their maiden Scottish Premiership victory, following the humiliating a devastating 9-1 combined loss against Club Brugge in the Champions League play-offs during August.
The announcement stressed that rebuilding processes demand time, however performances must meet expectations.
Main Developments
