Survivor Describes Moment That 'Monster' Struck Manchester Jewish House of Worship
An individual assisting in fortifying a synagogue in the region of Manchester has recounted how a deadly attack unfolded, resulting in the deaths of two community members.
Early Thursday, a congregant was present in the Heaton Park synagogue when a perpetrator drove a vehicle toward and stabbed attendees coming together for a observance to mark the holy day.
He noted that the 'monster' perpetrator tried to bash down the entrances of the building, and he recalled securing the building with fellow attendees.
The victims, in their 50s and 60s were killed in the violence on the morning, while several more were hurt while attempting to defend worshippers.
Witness Testimony of the Violence
The individual, who serves as a leader at the synagogue, explained reinforcing the entry points and said that the attacker employed knives and garden containers to try to get in.
"I saw this great, big, evil monster shoulder charge against the entrance, trying to bash them down while armed with a blade," he explained to the media.
The sole statement that was audible was him saying 'this is what you're going to get for killing our children'.
That was all he expressed. And we were behind the doors and we were saying 'we are not letting this man in'.
He appeared as a crazed, violent individual."
Ceremony Conducted for Individual
These comments came as a large gathering were present at the funeral service for the deceased.
Close kin, members from the local Jewish community including a religious leader, and members of the Jewish population gathered in Pendlebury, Salford to honor the deceased.
Mourners crowded the cemetery forecourt, with a number waiting outdoors the prayer hall in the downpour, hearing the service and eulogy over speakers.
Through a statement shared on Friday, Mr Cravitz's family stated that he would "do anything to help anyone".
